An optional add-on to Parapsychology Dialogues 2026, the Sydney City Bus Tour is a five-hour guided journey through Sydney’s most iconic neighborhoods and landmarks — designed by the Arrangements Committee with plenty of opportunities to step off the bus and explore on foot.

Itinerary

The tour follows a carefully designed route through Sydney’s harbour, historic precincts, gardens, beaches, and cultural neighborhoods. Stops are short by design — enough to take in the atmosphere, snap a photo, or walk a few minutes — so the day stays relaxed and on schedule.

  • 10:00 am — Pickup from Rydges Hotel, Camperdown
  • 10:30 amDarling Harbour (15-minute stop) — Sydney’s vibrant waterfront precinct with restaurants, museums, and views across Cockle Bay.
  • 11:00 amThe Rocks (30-minute stop) — Sydney’s oldest neighborhood, with cobblestone laneways, colonial-era buildings, and weekend markets.
  • 11:45 amSydney Opera House (15-minute stop) — The unmistakable sail-shaped UNESCO World Heritage icon on Bennelong Point.
  • 12:15 pmRoyal Botanic Garden (15-minute stop) — A short walk from the Opera House, with 30 hectares of harbourside gardens.
  • 12:45 pmMrs. Macquarie’s Chair (15-minute stop) — A sandstone bench carved in 1810, with one of the most photographed views of the harbour, Opera House, and Harbour Bridge in a single frame.
  • 1:30 pmThe Gap, Watsons Bay (15-minute stop) — Dramatic sandstone cliffs overlooking the Tasman Sea.
  • 1:45 pmBondi Beach (15-minute stop) — Australia’s most famous beach.
  • 2:15 pmPaddington (30-minute stop) — Victorian-era terraces, boutiques, and one of Sydney’s most charming inner-city neighborhoods.
  • 2:45 pm — Return drive to Rydges Hotel, Camperdown.

Itinerary timing is approximate and may shift slightly depending on traffic and group pace.


Good to Know

  • What to bring: Comfortable walking shoes, a light jacket (Sydney in August is mild — typically 8–18 °C / 46–64 °F), sunglasses, and a camera.
  • Food & drink: Lunch is not included. Feel free to bring a snack and water, or grab a quick bite during one of the longer stops (Darling Harbour, The Rocks, and Paddington all have great options).
  • Weather: The tour runs rain or shine. Sydney winter weather is generally mild and dry.
  • Registration: The Sydney Bus Tour is an add-on ticket and must be purchased separately during convention registration. Spaces are limited.
